Why isn't still mainstream?

I know that lab grown meat as a concept has been hovering for at least two decades. I know the tech at that time wasn't comparable to today, so if we're so advanced today, why isn't it mainstream yet?

I think we all can guess it. the biggest reason is just the insane cost. The first lab grown burger back in the day was like a quarter million dollars. They've brought that way down, but it's still way more expensive to produce than traditional meat
