Lab-grown egg yolks and whites do they exist yet?

I've been keeping an eye on the lab-grown meat and dairy movement for some time, but I just realized I haven't seen anything about lab-grown egg yolks or egg whites. Sure, there are plant-based egg substitutes, but is anyone actually developing a cultivated version of real egg components, you know, yolk and white made from cultured cells?

If that's not the case, do you have any thoughts on why? Is it a technical challenge, a lack of market demand, or just something that's not on anyone's radar yet? I'd love to hear if you've come across any research, startups, or projects that are working on this.

Great question! Cultivated egg tech is way behind meat mainly due to technical hurdles in mimicking yolk/white structure and lower demand. A few startups are exploring it, but nothing commercial yet

Yeah, it cos most companies focus on plant based egg alternatives because they're cheaper and easier to make culturing real yolks and whites actually sounds more trickier technically and less urgent since eggs are already affordable

Lab-grown eggs probably aren't being developed because the industry knows they'd flop, people are fine with cruelty-free meat but weirdly sentimental about eggs. It's socially acceptable to exploit chickens as long as you don't kill them, and no startup wants to fight that hypocrisy head-on.
